Trusting the Universe
Trusting the Universe sounds simple - and it can be. Most of us have had situations where we have fully trusted. And that may have meant deciding what direction we were heading in, and then not thinking (read: not worrying) about what or how the direction we are heading in will come to pass. Usually, the results are better than we would have expected. When we get tangled in the how’s and the why’s, we restrict the opportunities that are just waiting to come our way. The hypnotherapy processes used in Wakeful Dreaming can help access that intuition and to anchor it in.
Years ago, my ex-husband and I were living in Arizona and took a trip to northern California at our favorite time of year - early fall. Our intended destination was Eureka, but we made it only as far as Garberville not realizing how long a drive it would be BSP (before smart phones). We loved the Garberville area and especially the redwoods. We started talking about “moving to Eureka” - still not having been there.
Having become a daily meditation practitioner and new recruit to self-hypnosis, I followed the guidance that came my way. I didn’t really understand how these ideas that came to mind would get us to Eureka, but I followed the intuitive thoughts anyway.
Some of the intuitive actions looked like this: Each day I would go into my office at the college where I worked in Arizona and print out the weather report for Eureka, California. The 62 degrees in Eureka looked very appealing compared to the temperatures in the Arizona desert. Whenever either my husband or I would complain about the heat, the other would eye-lock and say, “it won’t be this hot when we move to Eureka".” We talked a lot about what it would be to live there.
As fall turned to winter, the intuitive thoughts inspiring action became more insistent. After discussing a need for change with my husband, I turned in my resignation to my employer. I explained that although I didn’t have a full plan of what I was going to do next, it felt time to make a change and could give them at least a month’s notice. The following week, my department Dean called me into her office with an offer for a short-term assignment to help open a campus in Fremont, California.
After seeing Fremont, both my husband and I were ready to make that move. It wasn’t Eureka, but it was a lot closer to Eureka than the desert of Arizona. As a further indicator that we were on the right path, my employer paid the relator fees to both sell our home in Arizona and buy a house in Fremont. They paid for the cost of move as well. After the move, they even hired my husband. When we are aligned with the Universe, all manner of manifesting events are realized.
Hypnotherapy can help us hold space for the "going with the flow” mentality. As we set our desires, we can let go of how it will happen and allow the process to unfold. Spending time with our subconscious mind and allowing ourselves to access the connection between the subconscious and the flow state help place us squarely in the place to manifest - based on our grounding in love and compassion.
After several years in Fremont, I then moved to the north San Francisco bay area and have found the town of my heart. Taking each intuitive step lead me to a place where I would bloom and grow. The universe can help guide us to a better place than meets our imagination.
I have visited Eureka many times, and yet at this time of my life, I am so grateful to have landed someplace else. But who knows? Maybe the Universe isn’t done with me and Eureka yet.
